For me the worst thing about it was removing it, didn't have any linkage problems or shifter problems, the guy I bought it off of owned a 4wd shop so he did everything right and custom. Still a dumb idea though.
BTW, I thought I wheeled but I guess I don't... I'm a noob so I guess I wouldn't really be able to tell.

|jdhallissey||the only way i really see a 3inch bl working is if you also raise the engine and tranny. That would solve some issues but you will have a lot of space between your tub and frame.|

i personally have no experience with a 3'' bodylift, so in no way am i saying not to..
just personally would not be dumb enough to put such stress on my body mounts..
not to mention all the problems with the shifter you'll have, especially a manual (gfs dads jeep is a manual with 3'' bodylift, and i can tell you about the problems hes had with the lift)

Dude. Who in THIS thread doesn't wheel AND is telling someone what's good or not?? No one, that's who. EVERYONE said NOT to put a 3" BL on his jeep. He was very happy with the responses he got and is now NOT going to do one (well, except that it will still be hard to powerwash in between his frame and body that is).
I don't give a crap how much you "wheel". I don't care how much better your junk is that mine or anyone else's either. Hell, if you wheel all that much, how do you have time to post all the crap you spout anyway?
I'd try to get this post back on subject, but it should close now as the original poster has all the info to make a good decision NOT to do a 3" BL already.
But, if he doesn't, x5 or whatever it is, and don't do it. It's a cheap easy way to fit bigger tires ONLY. Bigger tires is great for getting your diffs off the ground, but otherwise is useless as you don't get any flex, you will have gearing problems and you'll probably break your D35 axle without some upgrades.

|flattietj||thank you tiny....but i build custom suspensions and i don think the masses know what they are talking about.....how bout u boys/girls come out and wheel with us east coast guys/gals and see what its all about......for wheeling anyway.....on road who gives a crap..leave it stock if your gonna drive it down the road|

might be a jake thing or im just tired of people that dont wheel telling newbies what is good and what is not....it is obvious that OME has some sort of calling here but they sell pretty stock suspension as far as im concerned.....if u r into entry level suspension the buy what these guys say...if you want true longterm performance then pm me..hell what do i know iv only owned pretty much every lift kit out there for a tj or yj

I bought my last Jeep with a 3 inch BL and it looked HORRIBLE. I seriously felt like an idiot some times when people would ask me about it.
See the space between the bumper and the tub? If you look at the license plate for reference, you can see just how big of a space that really is.
You can see the ground and my gas tank between there, and you can probably smuggle someone across the border with all the space between the frame rails and the body.

I'll X3 on giving you my strongest possible recommendation to avoid any 3" body lift.
While a 3" body lift may seem to a new Jeeper to be the least expensive way to get 3" of extra clearance for the tires, it is the worst possible way to achieve it. They are difficult to get installed properly for a number of reasons... the transfer case won't shift properly afterwards, a manul transmission shifter won't shift properly afterwards, and the fuel lines will need to be extended afterwards too. Besides all that, they just look lame and any experienced Jeeper will look at a Jeep with a 3" body lift as one having a clueless owner.
If you want 3" of lift, do with with something besides a 3" body lift. A 3" suspension lift, or perhaps a 2" suspension lift together with a 1" body lift. I have a 1" body lift with my 4.5" suspension lift and I like that the 1" body lift gives me extra tire clearance with a reduced effect on my COG (center-of-gravity).
