89quest You shouldn't have to replace the mounts if they are indeed stock, something is amiss and you will find it, keep looking. Can you get in there to take a measurment, I know its tight. It might give some insight as to what is going on.

The Yetti No these would be the first set of non stock shocks. Do I really need to replace the entire mount? The new shocks aren't a drastic change from the stock shocks

89quest Just a shot in the dark, have your shock mounts been changed from stock? While under mine recently both my shock mounts had been replaced and reenforced by someone along the way

The Yetti No, I have the thick white shock part at the bottom.

cRaZy888 Its not upside down is it?
I thought I remember the tops and bottoms being different sizes?

jokerchief462 I know what u mean. I have done it only to get a dd back on the road.

The Yetti Yeah they're good, I'm not sure how to change the bushings though... Yeah thought about drilling it out. Didn't want to risk the slaughter to the bushing if the drill caught the rubber good

jokerchief462 Are the old rubber bushings any good??? Reuse. Or I have done this drilled the rubber to the right size and it wasn't easy but it works.

The Yetti I know what you mean on the RE. There's not a clearance issue with the shock. And yes they sent the right ones the order and part numbers match up. I will try to get some pictures up but I guess my question is, is there anyway to temporarily expand the hole making it fit. Maybe heat it up? I'm sliding on the top first by the way. I've also tried bolting up the lower mount first and then sliding the top on

whiteyj Pics will help solve these kinds if issues much faster! What you are describing could be crystal clear to you but not so much for the rest of us. For example, on the RE kit my shocks had to be installed upside down to clear interferences.

Carralo1 Are you sliding it on upper mount first? Are you installing them so they expand up or down? They could of sent wrong ones.
12-24-2012 06:42 PM
The Yetti Everything is clear and where it needs to be just wont fit, even after being lubed up. Maybe I am doing something wrong? I'll check but I'm pretty sure everything was clear
12-24-2012 06:41 PM
The Yetti The mount is clean and the bushing is rubber with nothing inside of it. But it's smaller than the factory one
12-24-2012 06:04 PM
jokerchief462 Is the mount clean clear of the last hardware like is there a metal sleeve on there from previous shock?? Or is there a sleeve in the new one that needs to be removed?

Rear upper shock mount

I was installing my new shocks from RC with my 2.5 inch lift (did not replace springs yet). Got through the front shocks fine but I could not get the rear shocks to slide into the upper mount. Tried PB blaster, hammering, everything. Any suggestions on what I should do? Also, does it matter that I didn't tighten lower bolts to 45 ft pounds? I just tightened until tight.
