Good old plasti-dip...about $7 a can. I think I used 4 cans.

Thanks in advance. Might have to go 9" wide with a ~5" BS but need a bigger tire and would protrude from fender. Again, really looking to run as close to stock as possible.

Looking good. What's the backspacing on -12MM (4 1/2??). Looking at these rims but was concerned on the 9" width. Saw lots of threads saying 8.5" was max. Also, these are 5"BS so add another 2" out from stock. Will protrude some but not sure how bad. Stock backspacing doesn't leave a lotta room in that department. Are your 18X9's with stock tire flush with fender?

-12 is equivalent to 4.5

The stock 255/70/18 max recommendation is a 8.5" rim, but it will work on a 9".

Stock tires with -12 offset stick out a bit. I like the stance. It looks a lot more aggressive, and will only improve the look when bigger tires are added.

Btw, check out Extreme Customs in Oshkosh, WI. They have great, flexible prices, free shipping, free lugs.

amick218 New rims 18x9 -12 on stock 255/70/18 tires for now.

Bought new TPMS sensors while I was in there anyway. The o-rings looked pretty worn.

whitelespaul I just had my stock rims powder coated for durability over paint or plasti-dip.

Thank you sir! I may have to put a book mark on those wheels once the dust settles a bit.

Yes on the re-use. As long as the wheel supports the TPMS addition. Which 99.9999% of new wheels do.

I was initially looking for an 18" wheel that had a small enough back spacing so I could go to 33" tires later on. Not sure if 5.125" BS is enough to add 33" tires later though without rubbing with no lift. The magic number I think is closer to 4.5" BS. But another member on here had the same wheels and 33" Duratracs and they did not rub with no lift.

I have been debating wheels/tires for months. I talk myself in and out of getting 18" wheels and keeping the stock tires. I want a black wheel with slightly less backspacing to gain a slightly wider stance.

I looked into just about every 18" wheel and only found a few that would work with the stock 18" Dueler tires.

My favorite are Ultra Crushers in black. 18" x 8.5 with 5.125 BS which is just over an inch wider than the stockers. I like these as I love the stock spoke look but want black. I am not into plasti-dipping and Im not into using spacers. I like a wheel that is what I want rather than those two options.

Performance Plus and Tire Rack have them for the same price. $790 for a set of 5.

Nice find! They would look mighty good on my soon to be here, Deep Cherry Red JKS

Any 18" wheel between about 7" and 9" would accept the stock Sahara tires.

MTH Why is it hard to find black 18" wheels? There are dozens and dozens available from many manufacturers.
12-26-2012 10:44 AM
Bulbous It looks like the level 8 trackers only come in 18x9... But aren't the stock Sahara wheels 18 x 7.5?

Would the stock tires fit an 18x9 wheel?
12-26-2012 09:48 AM
RUBI13 I second the Level 8 Trackers! Much nicer look than MB72's.
12-26-2012 09:33 AM
Raiderfan001 MB72s are popular. I like the Level 8 Trackers.
12-26-2012 09:28 AM
Pattynole why not just paint or plasti-dip what you have? i plasti-dipped the wheels that cam with my sahara and while it's not perfect, it works.

black rims to fit stock JK Sahara Tires.

I am looking for a set of black matte rims to put on my JK Unlimited Sahara... The hard part is finding a decent pair that also fits with the stock tires on Sahara.

Any thoughts?
