|DrWardner||2013 JKU 6 speed with 3.21, 3" lift, 35's. I would like to regear. It's definitely retarded in 1st gear, and 6th gear. Noticeable, but not unbearable. I get decent mileage though. My suggestion, is get your tires, if you can live with it, don't worry about the gears. If its too painfully sluggish for you, regear!|

|Seeuoffroad||2012 auto 35" tires. Mileage in town 14.5 on the highway 15.8 but I live in Nebraska. It's flat real flat. With 4.88|

|1sgjeep||This I a topic that has been asked for years. I'm over 50 and on my third jeep. I have a 2010 2dr, I went to 5:13 gears. As most of us know we never stop adding to our jeeps, if you do you should same money and do it once so you never have to worry down the road about what you can or can not handle.|

|COStrider||The shop doing my lift said stock rubi gears have been reported to be better running 35's (compared to stock tires) and another guy working there mechanic turned front counter sales rep runs 37's/4.10/auto/2012 and isn't going to regear|

MTH thanks for point out the difference between should and need. I thought I was gona have to do that.
I run 3.07s with 33s. I suppose that is about equivalent to a pre pentagrail w/ 35s and 4.10 or a pentagrail w/35s and 3.73s.
You never NEED to regear, unless you can't reach highway speeds, and even then I wouldn't say "need".
You probably should, with your engine and transmission. I would go with 4.88s if you offroad or 4.56 if you don't. Also depends on the wheel tire combo, the type of driving you do, etc.

|Duke Hebert||3.73 & 35's with auto works for me. But thats on a 2013, i would think prior to 2012, a gear reduction would be a must! Personally i would look at the 4.88's.|

I had 4.10 gears, but I decided to get beefier axles with 4.56 gears. I'll pick up my JK with the new axles and gears this afternoon, so I'll find out how the new gears work shortly. The 4.10 gears were ok with 35" tires, but not optimal with the added weight from bumpers, sports cage, skids, sliders, winch, beadlocks, ect.

|Seeuoffroad||Your right Dalton it works its not bad. But the 4.88 just flipping rock. Would have left my 3.73 but I installed ARB lockers and thought might as well do the R&P. I'm glad I did. Big difference.|

Personally I think that 4.10s would be prefect with the manual and 35s. It's a good all around gear. You should get MPGs on the street still and on the trail be able to drive over almost anything reasonable.

09 Rubi with 35's.... 6 speed... definitely doggy... any type of moderate 4 wheeling requires 4-low now. I am in very hilly terrain...
Not unbearable... but close for me.

Now that is double nonsense ......We have 2 Rubi's that came with 4.10's and now with 35" tires...... and yes you can drive it with 4.10 but it drives a whole lot better with 4.88's.

The OP has an 07 manual...so he probably should re-gear. But on a 2012 or 2013...especially with the 5 speed auto...you can "get by" with 3.73's, and 4.10's are near perfect unless you live in the hills.

|krawzdogg||2013 JK Manual...35's with 3.73...only complaint is on the highway with hilly terrain...have to switch between 5th and 6th often, considering regearing, but my gas mileage has been around 17mpg around town.|

|Seeuoffroad||2012 JKU Auto.... I have 35's and did 4.88 it's awesome!! Didn't notice a big difference driving around town. But out on the highway and in low gear crawling big difference. Gas mileage also improved.|

|RUBI13||I have a 2013, Auto with 373's and 35's. I am swicthing to either 410 or 456's. 373's shift out of overdrive too much on the highway, especially on hilly terrain.|
