Jerry Bransford You found the best thread for sure. It's a good swap and I heartily recommend it. The offroad benefits of that conversion will amaze you.

auto trans conversion

This may get me flamed, but here goes

--- How much of a chore is it to convert my stock 5 speed '00 TJ into an auto? -- ovviously i would need the trans, but is this something my local neighborhood tranny shop could accomplish easilly? ---- or should i get out from under my 5 speed and just buy an auto? (i have early onset arthritis in my hands and fingers and the 5 speed has been a chore as of late unfortunately)

--- Reason i am even contemplating this is because i like my Jeep, it has high miles and i could not get much out of it in a sale , but it has been stone reliable and i trust it, just want to "fix it" for my needs. I'm thinking if i bought another TJ with an auto, but also in my price range, i would be having the trans re-built in short order anyway,
