Got it-Thanks! I could never find that info. before- I added this to my Favorites. The link didn't open the first time.
Of course they show Skyline as closed- half that neighborhood has a key. But there is another gate at Beek's place- no key there so FYI you won't get very far if you were to venture up Skyline.

JeepHerz Just be careful this time of year. Many of the fire roads will have locked gates- and they're locked. Skyline is probably closest to you- has a gate. (Off Lincoln). Many people have keys so its open a lot on the weekends- but beware you can come back and find the gate locked. A nice run is off Silverado Canyon- there is a park at the end. Maple Springs I think? Start there- thru Main Divide- and out Skyline. You can Google map it. You can also pick up a key for Skyline at the cashier's office in city of Riverside. $100 deposit. I'll be picking one up this summer- I hike there and Jeep there so the convenience is worth it.

castman2 Hey Vincer, check out the forrest service site too. once in narrow it dwn to the area you are insterested in. they have maps but most are prettry useless. You can go the local ranger stations too. they often have some decent maps and can let you know if any area is closed.

fire road locations

What is a good site to find out about local fire roads and how to get to them? Mainly in the Corona/Riverside area. I see fire roads all over from my house and have no idea how to get to them, what is legal etc. Just looking for ways to take a couple hours on an off-road drive and break in my new ride.

I see some stuff online about some of the bigger roads, but very little info on how to access them, good routes, legalities, etc.

Any thoughts?
