asbury crank sensor, will not run with out it

ax-5 help

I installed a new tranny(ax-5) into my jeep and was wondering does any body know what the eletrical connector on the left side of the bell housing is for, the connestor broke and i need to know what it is for to replace it. There is a slit rate below the connector if it helps.
