Do I also 'shock-blow' the double joint? If so, where?
I have regreased the inner spring loaded assembly and reassembled the joint. It moves freely with no binding.
I don't remember if there is a ball bearing under the spring in the sleeve. I don't see one mentioned on the drawings. Is there supposed to be one in there to push a little harder on the spring?

not automatically as suggested. When you roll the double cardan around spherically, it should be smooth... when you push it 'over the top' from say 6 to 12 o'clock position, you should feel a bit of resistance due to the ball and spring.
There should be no binding or hard spots in the spherical movement whatsoever.... even going over the top should be smooth... just a bit of resistance is normal, but no binding.
Did you 'shock blow' the H-yoke of the double cardan with a hammer at each side after the install of new joints? This usually 'seats' the caps into a good/correct position after pressing them in from one side to another.... that is what normally loads the ujoint to one side just slightly... kinda like a single joint of the diff side that is stiff after install until you shock blow it with a hammer.

Front Driveshaft Rebuild Question
I changed out the u-joints on the front and rear driveshafts.
I had a vibration at freeway speeds and tried the disconnect of the front driveshaft to see if that was the cause. The vibes went away with the front disconnected.
When I installed the double cardigan u-joints the instructions said that when complete and if I bend the joint the double joint should snap back to the straight position. Mine did not do that when I installed it before and it does not do it now that it is out of the Jeep now.
I am going to clean and regrease the centering joint and see if it will snap back as it should.
Could this be the cause of the vibration I was getting?
Is it really supposed to snap back to the centered position?
