Relo to Greensboro

I'm considering relocating to Greensboro for a new gig and I'm curious what the area is like for wheeling. I lived in Apex for a few years and my folks retired to Asheville, so I'm familiar with the state, but have only driven through Greensboro on 40. I see that I could get to Raleigh or Charlotte in 1.5 hours, but how about trails that are closer?
