Not sure if it matters or not but perhaps I can see if I can get another replacement that is actually for a jeep.

Now it is Normal to hear the hard drive spinning after you turn power off. It is just like a PC with windows, when you turn your PC off, it goes thru it's shut down process, and just like a PC, if you force the MyGig a Hard Shut down, you could corrupt the Drive. It's also normal for it to power up even while Vehicle is not running. Sometimes when it is updating it's files etc it will act funny, as you described it having a black screen. It doesn't have a Fast processor like our PC's do...lol...
The new Infotainment units that are being added to all models as the New Can Bus Network (PowerNet) is being added with a faster network...

jvmoney not sure if the lock pick would have did your system in, but I second that notion about the headaches trying to get this CHR550 to work with my 730N. I am going to try calling the support line tomorrow since they just emailed me back that they may have a workaround for the 2012 manuals, but we will see.

For me, everything was still fine, but the Lockpick didn't unlock the ability to enter addresses while driving which was the whole point of me buying it. Stupid website even said it would work on all 2007-2013 jeeps (no mention of any exceptions).

@ddbartley, its pretty easy to swap it out. You may want to try taking it back to another dealer (and not letting them know you even had a Lockpick on there) and playing the "not sure what happened but my radio died" line. There was a thread on here that I followed and it literally took me an hour to get it on and off (and thats bc I was being extra careful). Good Luck!

LockPick Had issues and had a hard time getting the Lockpic to work with the 2012 models, esp Manuals. It's not the MyGig they are having problems with, cause the Mygig hasn't changed much since it came out in 2007, the RER, it's the Jeep and Canbus the Lockpics are dealing with. The Lockpick Screws with the Canbus more then it does with the MyGig

tomthbomb I have a lock pick still in the box. This scares the cr@p outta me to install it. The 730N already has it's share of problems w/o messing with it.

I have 29K miles on my 2012 so I guess if I am going to do the install it should be soon !?!

Did you consider removing the lock pick before going to the dealer?

Do you mean the Altitude package?

Either way, I hate to say it.....but I agree with the dealer. Try unhooking lockpick for a bit of time...that often works. Also, you can don't need a car ship to install and uninstall Lockpick.

All was well until a connection came loose and the system stopped working. Took it in and they replaced the system (and also forgot to hook up antennae for which I had to make another appointment). Less than a week later the system went literally black and quit working. The dealer of course is blaming the Lockpick but I really think the new unit is not working correctly. It sounds as if the hard drive is just spinning inside. Sometimes but not always after I have the jeep off for an extended period of time it will start working again! I took it to the audio place that I used to install the Lockpick and together we checked all the connections and found them to be working properly.
