OcalaJeeper What TB did you use on the 2.4? I can only find TB's for 2.5L & 4.0L.

TexasBeerMan I also have a 2.4l trying to get more power, i have added a cold air intake a new throttle body, and have done cat back exhaust system...only thing I can think of is headers and a chip waiting on funds to install those any other add ons I can get to help with lack of power, I am tired of the lack of power getting passed by semi trucks is getting embarrassing

BlakeDuke123 Thanks. I was wanting to put bigger tires. Wasn't sure if I would need to add more horse power or not. Maybe cold air intake? What bout headers an exhaust?

sevenservices your looking at it all wrong I think... if your goal is to get more power to the road/trail look into your gear ratios. Theres not a lot you can do to the 2.5 for more power and a turbo is a real good way to ruin your head in a hurry.

If you re-gear, you can get more power to the road with less effort on the engine.

I would say to check into tire upgrades or a lift though before you re-gear. Only because if you regear to get more power out of your current setup it might not be the best gearing for larger tires if you ever add them in the future.

Aside from all that, keep your engine tuned. Distributor cap & rotor, plugs, wires and air filter are all major causes of lacking horsepower. They are made to wear out and are frequently overlooked.

BlakeDuke123 Yeah, that's my retirement car. Lol. I got my chevy truck for my horses. But my jeep needs a lil get up an go. Lol

ktx_jeeper If you want some horses, buy yourself a nice Corvette. Jeeps dont really supply the kind of on demand power you could get from other daily drivers.

BlakeDuke123 Ok thanks. Appreciate it.

Well Blake,

Since I don't think there is such a thing as a stupied question I had to do some deep back tracking on my posts, but I found the answer that I gave JD some time back, however I still think this is one way to do it today as well:

AIRAID 310-164 - AIRAID® Cold Air Dam Intake for 97-02 Jeep® Wrangler TJ with 2.5L I4 Engine - Quadratec

aFe Power 46-35001 - aFe Power Silver Bullet Throttle Body Spacer for 91-06 Jeep® Wrangler YJ, TJ, TJ Unlimited, Cherokee XJ & Grand Cherokee WJ with 2.5/4.0L - Quadratec

MBRP Inc. MBRP Inc. Jeep Exhaust - Quadratec

Hope this helps?

12-30-2012 11:21 PM
Airboatingobx Well if he has a 4.0 he can do a 4.2 head swap and gain a good bit of horses. If he's got a 2.5 well not a whole lot you can do lol I've tried

You can't get there from here.......Big $$ motors, drivetrain, and axle swaps is the only way.
12-30-2012 10:58 PM
