The-Judge Plasti dipped mine 6 months ago and they still look great. It holds up well and it dries smooth

Not sure I wanna do the grill too, but its in my mind.

How does the Plasti-dip stuff hold up with washes? Does it have a texture to it?

Also thinking of doing the middle of the hood as well. Think that looks awesome!
The plasti dip holds up really well, I painted my bezels, my antennae, and the panel around the handle on the doors (the upper part of the door) and took it thru a very high pressured car wash and not a mark on it. It's a fairly smooth texture once it dries too.

Rude Dog Yes, black flows with most. Everything on my jeep was black, except for the chrome headlight trim rings, lug nuts and wheels. So, trim rings and wheels went to the dark side. Left lug nuts and center caps left alone.

Pink_Percy I bought the black bezel about 5 yrs ago and their still perfect. A buddy of mine didn't want to spend the $30 bucks for them so he has since spray bombed his bezels at least a dozen or so times from chipping costing about $50 in paint.

I just installed grill inserts like these. How do you get to the hood latch on yours?

Oh how I love PlastiDip

TnDz TJ I think blacked out bezels make a WORLD of difference....

Another subtle painting is the retaining rings on the headlamps.... makes a cool difference! A quick shot with Rustoleum after a scuff with a 3M pad...

before and after..

Major improvement. I can't believe. How much a little paint did. I couldn't stand the cheap chrome look. What do you all think?
did you just use regular spray paint for that?
08-03-2012 09:53 AM
rockcrusher I painted mine and the ring that hold the bulb in and the grill. I didn't want any bling up front
08-03-2012 08:50 AM
Dragonii If you don't like the black grill you can just peel it off. It only cost about 10 bucks and takes about an hour.
08-03-2012 08:43 AM
BamaRolln The black around the lights looks really good. DONT paint the grill. To each his (or her) own but that doesn't look good IMO. But then I absolutely HATE black rims so......
08-03-2012 08:38 AM
scwalls Oh, I like the red. Pops nicely.

I initially resisted painting mine black b/c I thought they'd give the Jeep a 'racoon' look, but was quite happy with it after deciding to make the plunge. Even the GF (who's generally disinterested my tinkerings) said they looked dramatically better in black.
08-02-2012 08:58 PM
99tj707 That looks great. I probably will spray mine after I redo the half doors and hard top.
08-02-2012 08:31 PM
StephTech okay, that red is awesome!

I found a grill pic for you (on this post), and if you use plasti-dip, which comes in a spray can, you can peel it off if you decide you don't like it!

LouieDelTorchio Went off a limb and painted mine red :P

StephTech I think it's a great idea! Now I want to get gasket material to outline the blinkers
08-02-2012 07:49 PM
99tj707 I re sprayed my flares as well. I'm a little nervous about painting my grill. I think I might leave it like this for awhile. Do you have pics of yours?
08-02-2012 07:44 PM
dabolt55 Looks good, you'll be painting the grill next.
