Check the front driveshaft...

..especially the CV joint right at the transfer case - which is basically right under the gas pedal...

8 bolts and you can get the drive shaft out to have it checked (or check it yourself) - you can also drive it to see if the noise goes away.

Iam 6 days into Jeep ownership...radiator coming in this week and running great...just one noise...

2000 Wrangler 4cyl manual

Sounds like bearings under left side of stick, close to gas pedal. Sound increases with speed and increased more in 4wd. I still wonder if it is just normal drive shaft noise because I only have a steel floor. A friend who is a mechanic rode with me and, although he has not done much with jeeps, thinks it may be a 'center bearing?' No change with braking, steering, etc... He said drive it until it gets worse unless I plan on a very long trip.

Any ideas?
