One suggestion for those of you packing a chain saw....
It would be a good idea to buy a plastic Wedge and keep it in the rig !! Noting worse than a down tree across the trail and a pinched bar on the saw , while trying to cut the tree out of the trail.
Save ya lot of time.... Available at any logging supply or hardware store around these parts.... "BH"

|JeeperJake||I've got a vintage WW2 era entrenching folder, a folding saw & a couple prized hand axes. Just big enough to be useful if needed, but small enough to be out of the way. And not really designed for full-bore digging/sawing/chopping but enough that should be better than what I'd have otherwise. If I get into full-tilt back country mode, I'll probably charge my Bantam with actual tool set along with camping gear.|

|Peepers||I have a full size ax that just fits between the wheel wells in the trunk area. I lean it up againts the back seat and hold it in place with my tool box. I have a short shovel I just throw on top of the trunk area come winter time.|

Depending on what you are running and where you are going. It is "ALLWAYS" a good idea to be prepared. Your vehicle and yourself. If you think you need a shovel carry one? If you might need come-a-long or a hi-lift jack, carry them. Always carry and map even if you have a gps. Tread Lightly tip “BE PREPARED” and model the behavior for others to follow. Lead by example.

Dave has his compressor mounted where the AC unit would normally go. His didn't come with AC, told him he is not taking my AC out to mount my compressor LOL
I have the Irack system for the spare tire. I just need to get it mounted and then I will have my ax mount and my Jerry cans mounted on it. to cold and wet to tackle it now. SO will probably wait until spring LOL

|banks316||That is the best idea for a compressor. I was going to mount mine where the stock air box use to be but my new fender wells ate up that area. Im already top heavy enough with out the extra cargo rack, but it does look good and I could have my back seat back. Maybe once i lower my jeep Ill look into the cargo rack.|

My Shovel. I don't have my ax mounted yet. so she lays in the back or up in a box on top.

I'm currently waiting for my cousin to finish the struts that will support the vertical forces, resulting from the compressor on the support rods.

|AlanRose1||I use a military etool, folds up small, can use it as an axe if you wanted. then just throw it underneath a seat or something. one guy made a small carrier on the inside of the tail gate and sets his in there.|

I carry a shovel, great recovery tool.
I don't like an ax but I do prefer a saw.
