USAF Just talked to the seller, hope to go take a look at the Jeep on Sunday. Little description about it from him and the questions I gathered. Mileage is unknown, body is steel and painted once before to his knowledge. Transmission and T-case all shift good ( no popping out of gear), gauges are questionable (stated he doesn't look at them while driving, WTF)

Rusted areas are the fender wells and just behind the front passenger fender flare (rocker panel area). Tires are 31x10.5x15 and good condition, also has a brand new fuel tank/carb/dist cap. I'll take a good look all over and underneath for a detailed inspection and let y'all know how it goes when I get back home. I appreciate all the responses from everyone and the items to look out for on the Jeep.

lynn Certainly worth a look.
First year for the boxed frame and full AMC design.

Look for rust-through and cracks in the frame:

Rear frame extensions, hump to rear cross. Look especially around spring hangers & shackle hangers. Same in front. Also around engine mounts, steering box mount, and frame horns.

Bucktaker looks ok to me but only a close personal inspection will determine how much is original or aftermarket. Take a look and let us know

warbird24 I've just started to venture into this area of the forum due to my desire for an early Jeep myself.

As much as the pictures show, if it's close by it is certainly worth a look at. Most jeeps of that era that I've looked at in my area of the North East, if they looked that good would be going for much more money.

To find a reasonably clean V8 CJ for that money to me would be a good deal.

Looking at this 1976 CJ5 and curious of what you guys/gals think ? Worth taking the time to look at (in person) or should I skip ? I've been reading on here the items to look for on older Jeeps. Trying to educate myself with as much knowledge as possible.

1976 OlllO CJ5 ! 3 speed V8!!
