NHflannelman12JK76CJ5 Are you looking for a cost comparison for the JKU Rubi compared to a CJ-7 frame up resto?
You already don't like the JK's appearance, right? Do you have the time/money to do the restoration?

Frame up 84 CJ-7 Laredo make over?

Original owner: not often used off road, no accidents, no rust, no dings, always garaged, 235K miles, been everywhere from arctic to Baja, still runs ok, could use a ring and valve job (hate the Carter carb.) still looks like it came off showroom floor. Been thinking about a 2014 Rubicon replacement; more knowledgeable 4X4 owner friends are pleading with me not to do it. XYL & I mostly use it to for skiing in Sierra, as a “car”, and to take us to wilderness trailheads for extended backpacking. CJ, XYL and I are a bit more senior now and the J is planned to be our new “backpack”, one that carries us “out there”; and hopefully back. I like what the 2013 Rubicon can do, hate the looks, and plan to loosely mirror its capabilities; still going to be a “car” about 50 % of the time. Could use some help. (New to forum)
