Garyk Check and clean the connections at the ECM too.

jokerchief462 You may have an intermittent ground connection. Passenger side of the block rear is a collection of grounds. Remove all clean meticulously and then the last on should be drivers side valve cover or cylinder head ground strap. Clean both ends no paint left under at the firewall. See what that does for the problem.

bridgesjoe32 i do know it wouldnt crank one day and the next it did no problem and i didnt do anything to it

goatman When it is not starting, are you actually getting fuel sprayed into the intake (not just pressure) and is the spark firing?

jbc455 I've read that the crankshaft and cam sensors can both cause the drivability issue you've described.

They are both common failure items and fortunately cheap and easy to replace.

A failing oxygen sensor may also cause issues.

Hopefully someone with some more experience here will chime in.

Yj problem...please help if you can

I have a 92 jeep wrangler with a 4cylynder 5 speed....have problems with engine not wanting to start sometimes....sometimes i may be driving down the road and it shuts off...it may start and run fine and the next time i go to drive it, it will not start...it spins over fine,its getting fuel,,ive changed the coil,plugs and wires...i think it may be the ecm but not sure...anyway i can test or any other ideas it may be would be greatly appreciated....trying not to go broke trying to fix this problem.....thanks in advance
