MouthfulOfGrass My stock radiator got a pinhole leak at 98k miles. I had it replaced with a Visteon all aluminum radiator. A bit pricey in comparison to many, but well made and I am happy with it so far (2k miles later). Mechanic told me aluminum better because it conducts temperature faster which allows it to cool more efficiently than steel, and it's a bit lighter.

khenderson i would like to say aluminum, but i'm not sure why. as long as it's an all metal to get rid of those plastic tanks, you'll be good. got mine from radiatorbarn for like 145.

Odhinn which would be better, aluminum or steel, mine is getting up there in miles and might have to be replaced soon.

khenderson mine actually made it to about 130K before it went and when it did, it went with a fury!

BM20 wow, over 100k miles before the stock radiator went?? thats amazing. mine started leaking at about 33k. did you replace yours with a stock replacement one with the plastic tanks again or did you go with an all metal one?

Radiator Woes

Well I had done a little reading over the weekend after searching for "radiators" on this site and it seems mine was one of the ones that the plastic tank started leaking on. But to my pleasant surprise it was very easy to uninstall and reinstall the new one. Kudos to the jeep engineers that didn't make it hard to change the radiator! Anyone else experienced this in the early going?? Mine was at 101K miles......Robert
