So far no, but I haven't flexed I out. On road everything is fine. And you are correct, do not have any spacers, just the wheels.

SteedGun jwilson,

Are you getting any rub with the Pintlers and 315s? You do not mention wheel spacers so I assume you are only backspacing with the Pintlers, right?

Here's the difference if it helps, 275/70/18 (same as 285/70/17) vs 315/70/17, same tires (Duratracs). Both have a Teraflex 1.5" leveling kit, the 275s picture was with 19/60 springs and the 315 picture is with 10A springs.

Here's mine with pintlers, 285/70/17 duratracs, & a Teraflex leveling kit. I drove around for a while with these without the leveling kit and only rubbed on the air dam at full lock. However, like most others have said, I wish I had gone with the 315's......especially now that I have an AEV 2.5 inch lift going on in a few weeks....

285/70/17 Duratracs on Pintlers before Performance leveling kit.
Slight 2 min trim to air dam to correct little rub on driver side in reverse.

It will fit great. The pintlers have the right back spacing so you won't need the lift. I have the 285/70/17 with the savegres and the BFG, no lift, no rubbing, looks awesome. Can't post a pic just now, but if you search posts by my name you'll find pics.

Do it up!

Gumbys69 285's with a Terraflex leveling kit and wheel spacers. Drives no different than stock and didn't notice any mileage difference.

285/70/17 BFG KM2 no lift, 1.5" wheel spacers no rubbing anywhere. Not exactly what you were asking for, but hope it help.

Like 8PSI but other than that they are great. I get about the same millage I was getting which is crappy, but hey it's a jeep and it's a 3.8L at that.. The Tires, wheels and weights come in right at 90.5lbs a tire. I went with the 16" wheels to get a little more sidewall for airing down..
Looks great! Did you regear? What gear ratio do you have and what kind of mileage do you think you're getting?

I went with 285/75/17s over the 315/70/17s for a couple of reasons....
I wanted a tire that didn't stick out quite as far.
I wanted a lighter weight tire.
By doing so I saved about $60 per tire - that is quite a savings for 5 tires with not much difference in size. The biggest size difference is the 285s are about 1 inch smaller in width.
Our 285 barely fit on the stock carrier/bumper. It actually sat on the bumper ever so slightly. So yes it fits but it is a tight squeeze. The picture doesn't show the stock set up because we got a new bumper.
As for mpg - well I just don't bother looking any more.

: )

Are you running spacers?

Damooch I have 315/70/17 on pintlers with a 2.5 RK lift. It has duratracs on it. Rides great. Did have to go with 1.5 inch synergy wheel spacers. Because of the backspacing I went with spacers. The rim came too close to the rear suspension for my liking. It does ride great. It has 3.21 gears so it will b reheated soon. It is a dog with those gears but there only so much money in the wife's wallet. Lol. Hope that helps

I can tell you if you go with 285/70-17 you will be happy for exactly one week then they will start looking tiny. I have a 14 jkur with 2" lift and originally got 285/70-17. I was lucky my tire dealer took them back on trade after 2000 miles and I upped it to 285/75-17 which look much better.

I don't know if anyone is still following this thread but I thought I would update. The JK has 14 k miles now and the tires are at 3/4 tread left and the lift has broken in and it rides and performs great on and off road. I would like to regear to a 4.11 which would put me back to the same rpm range as stock with 32" tires. If I did not do a lot of highway driving on trips I would go with 4.56"s. Even with the 315"s and 3.73"s it still does well in the mountains high elevation on and off road. I have since added Bushwacker Flat Fenders and the 315"s look a little small for the lift and wheel openings.

Damooch Mine stuck out about an inch. But they rubbed so added wheel spacers. Now they stick out more but don't rub. This was with a 2.5 inch RK lift.
