|bigtoysforbigboys||Does the gear shift need to come off?....I have it down to the gear shift but im not seeing any screws|

|0III0forlife||Lol, well that is wrenching years on this Jeep. All total if you count the years when i was helping my dad with his CJ when i was growing up, would be in the range of 42+..Since i just turned 50 in Jan. And i have had a Jeep vehicle of some sort for the past 35 yrs. Damn, now i'm starting to feel old..LOL|

It isnt easy, but its possible.
If you are mechanically inclined and have a good selection of tools, and a lot of patience, then by all means go for it.
You have to take apart the column down to below the key switch. once you get that far, you will see a set of 4 torx head screws in like the 10,2,4,and 8 o'clock positions. Those are what need tightened. What i did was to take them out 1 at a time and add some red locktite to the threads and re-insert.
I have all the correct tools, and have been working on my Jeep for over 20 yrs now, and the column thing took me about 4hrs.

loose tilt wheel
So my tilt on my steering has alot of up and down play ...my steering itself is good and tight...is there a way to fix the up and down slop in my tilt steering?
