nectoxicdragon in 600 miles you shouldn't be down any discernible amount of oil. 1000 if you are using oil maybe, but not 600. Time to do a leak down test, then check your valve guides... although you generally would notice a puff of smoke on startup with the valve guides. A general rule of thumb, no matter what you drive, is check your oil, all other fluids and tires once a week. Make a habit of it. This is how vehicles last multiple hundreds of thousands of miles. not to brag, but my 98 Grand Cherokee is close to 300K and still going strong, on the original un-rebuilt engine

GregSimonis Good question. I am starting 2 think it was. I hav gone 600 miles since topping it off and am down less than half a quart. I never checked it at the dealership when I bought it. U can bet next time I will!

Free2BE Was it low to begin with? I have a 2008 Wrangler X and it goes through 2 quarts extra every 5000 miles. Not sure if that's normal to go through 4.

Excesive oil consumption

Just bought a 2008 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Sahara with 94k miles on it from a dealership. Went in 4 my first oil change 5000 miles later n found out it was 4 quarts low. Is this normal? It's the 3.8 V6.
