what is considered an ideal lift & tire size is going to vary greatly from person to person.
personally, I'd consider an ideal tire size to be one that is acceptable for the type of terrain you intend to drive on. whether that's highway, mud, rocks, sand or whatever the case may be. I'd consider the ideal lift to be one that includes all facets of maintaining driveability & performance...that means addressing brakes, steering, bumpstops, suspension components, travel ratio, and more...including anti-squat & other suspension geometry properties.
Here's what I did to run 33s. It may change drastically at some point, it may not. It's been a learning process, and the more I learn, the more stuff I find that is not "ideal".

|NC Bear||I think 33's on a TJ is the way to go. Looks, and function. That said when I built mine, I built it for 35's thinking I would stay with 33's. I am content with mine, but sometimes think about going up to 35's for the extra inch of clearance.|

|apaTJ||There's so many ways to approach preparing your jeep for 35s. Not a huge difference in clearance than 33s but your pushing your axles harder and you'll want a regear unless you did for the 33s. Most people don't think the d35 will hold up with locked 35s. There's a thousand threads on here about it so you can do some research.|

|PStov98TJ||As long as you're ready to pay for all the upgrades and will actually use the larger tire size, go for it. But you'll need to add alot of stuff to the list before you put some 35's on your jeep.|

Ideal lift/tire size
Right now I'm running 33x12.5 on a 3" body lift.
I'm in the process of getting rid of this ridiculous body lift and putting a 4"SA suspension lift.
Should I stick with my tire size or go up to 35's granted I would have to regear and everything
