UTJeffC This thread is a few months old, so hopefully you got the top back up, or got it fixed already, but here is my input. I usually attach the wings in the back to the body rails while the front (sunrider) is still up. There is not much resistance and the plastic pieces on the back easily slip into the channels. Then I take the front sunrider part and latch it into the clips above the driver and passenger side doors before folding the sunrider down and attaching to the windshield clips. Once I started doing it in that order, it has always been an easy one person job.

top

Something looks funny with that smaller bar, like turning it around? I don't have that top any more so I don't remember how it went on. That longer bar attaches to the points and keeps it from sagging at back like in one of your pics

Soft top Bow may need to be flipped over

It has been over a month so hopefully the dealer helped you out. I had the same problem yesterday on my 2012 when I re-installed the soft top. It was too tight to click the sails in place and then I noticed that the top part of the back window zipper seemed to be pinched inward. I first dismissed it as normal shrinkage and then I realized that the bow had been flipped over once when it was in storage so the top had been shortened (think paper towel roll). I undid the bows, flipped them over and then it fit perfectly. I hope I remember this next year.

wrayjustin Just to make sure I'm not missing anything. The only part that "latches" in the back are the plastic pieces that slip under the lip at the bottom?

I did buy the dual-top package, so I'll be swinging by the dealership tomorrow if I can't figure it out before hand.

crawlin_archer It's hard to tell exactly from those pics, but I have put countless soft tops on & replaced soft tops under warranty. I know that usually you have to put the rear down very very hard to get it latched. I mean a grown man almost hanging on it hard. When they are new out of the box they are tight as a tiger to the point where you honestly don't think it fits. It usually takes 2 of us to latch it down normally. 1 guy hangs on it pulling it down by the bar & the other pulls the top & hooks into the slots. I suggest using 2 people & try again or take it to a dealer if you got it from them & tell them to put it on if you bought the dual top package.

Trouble with 2012 Wrangler 2D Sunrider top, pictures, details, and questions inside.

Hello Fellow Wheelers,

I joined the Jeep family during a Hurricane at the end of last year (what better time to buy a Jeep, plus I was the only one at the dealership and they we're dying to make a sale).

I was waiting for some decent summer action shots before I posted my beauty, but cat's out of the bag now, here are some shots with the top and doors off (from yesterday): Top Down, Doors Off, That's the way I like to...Jeep? - Imgur

So, as you can see I took my hardtop off. I have a Safari top, and a Bestop full trail cover (which covers the door area too). I also have a Sunrider top (came with the Jeep), which is my backup for when it is raining and I'm driving. However, the Sunrider top is not working.

When I put the top on (following the directions, countless Youtube videos, and endless forum postings I've read) the back does not go all the way down. Here are pictures to show you what I am talking about: Sunrider-less - Imgur (Here is a direct link to that first image, seeing as Imgur broke it: http://i.imgur.com/5OTINFg.jpg )

So, as you can see here (http://i.imgur.com/5OTINFg.jpg) the front is clipped (but not fully latched), yet the back will no go 'down.' No matter how much pressure I put on it. I actually got so frustrated at one point I put my entire body weight on to it - it didn't go down.

Now, you'll notice that last image shows the back 'down'. Here's why: Un-SCREW THIS - Imgur . You can actually see right here the top is still not even flat: http://i.imgur.com/L7tXTMU.jpg . And in case you missed it, I unscrewed the one bar, which is why it looks like the back is down in the one shot: http://i.imgur.com/F4NjygJ.jpg

Note, After playing with it some more it is apparent the resistance is from the metal bar, not the fabric or the strap (though the strap does get rather taunt, it still has some slack). It's as if the metal bar is too long/too far back - see the last set of pictures here: Un-SCREW THIS - Imgur To increase my rage it's raining it's ass off now, and I am soaked. =D

So, long post short: I put the Sunrider on, following the directions, but the back will not go 'down.' No matter how much pressure is applied. I'm just not sure what is wrong or what to do, any thoughts, help, or suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks!
