red flares on a red TJ sounds like a cool idea.....there never was a red TJ Sahara, there were Sienna Pearl Saharas which is a dark maroon color not flame red.

DoubleOught Mine were already painted when I bought my Solar Yellow 00 but they were not prepped correctly and i have peeled and repainted them since. I redid the front about 3 or so years ago and used base coat/clear coat system from a local auto paint distributor. I redid the rear this January and repainted the grille and some trail rash on the right rear corner and just used a high quality single stage urethane (no clear coat) and really like the single stage better. I prepped first with Windex and then a pre-paint cleaner (basically denatured alcohol), then shot with several light coats of adhesion promotor (used Duplicolor out of an aerosol can) and then 3 medium coats of the single stage. From past experience, rocks getting thrown from your tires will spiderweb the paint so I have sprayed about 4 light to medium coats of rubberized undercoating as a cushion inside the flares and have had no stone bruises on the rear so far.

22draketemple I still haven't painted them yet. I just went into a body shop today and the guy claimed they could not paint them to match because they are plastic... (incorrect),
I think I will try the flame red duplicolor or search for sahara flares.

Moabrubi Painting them would be easy and the Duplicolor perfect match stuff actually matches pretty good. I used that and their recommended clear to touch up a large area of my inner fender and it's pretty much the same as the original paint.

I'm sure eBay or Craigslist has some painted flares so you don't have to deal with painting though.

Red Fender Flares

I have a 2000 tj sport with the black plastic flares. I am wondering if anyone has painted their flares flame red, or know where you can buy the red sahara flares?
