The bolts pictured above? yes. But overall, No...I could not get the AC line off. I through in the towel. Now I cannot get 4 of the 12 Fender - Grill bolts back in.
Its secure enough that the grill's not going anywhere but I have bolts just lying around now. Going to see if my friends at the shop cant get them in with they're better tools. Need them to look at a few things anyway.
All in All a very disheartening 3 weeks for me

Here is where I am stuck... I cannot for the life of me find a way to get to that last nut circled in red on Either side. (Green circles indicate successfully removed bolts)
Anyone have any ideas?
Top Down view (Red circle in first picture tells you where the next picture zooms in)
The Yellow lines indicate the walls of the Radiator mounting brackets. These brackets make it difficult for me to get a socket wrench in there and around the bolt.
If you take notice, you cannot really see the driveway underneath of the offending bolt. Thats because there is part of the axle or what not in the way. So approaching this bolt from below is out.
The bottom bolt on the other side is reachable from below but I'm getting less then a quarter of a turn each time I crank on it.

UPDATE: I have everything disconnected except the bottom two Bolts that connect the Radiator to the Grill. I just can't reach them.
In totality I have removed 6 bolts from the fenders on each side, the Main bolt under the center of the bumper, the two bolts connecting the bar to the firewall, two bolts that are used as grounds, and two bolts on each side of the radiator.
Going to go to ACE / HD / LOWES / HF for a two foot 7/16" wrench or something. I'm SO damn close!

I am doing this now and Finding a hell of a time removing the radiator... how do they expect me to reach some of those bolts!? let alone twist them off...
I get that it is easier to just line it off and spray but I also want to do the gutter guard mod...so that doesn't really help me.
Anyone got a good walkthrough on how to remove the grill on a 1998 TJ?
I have the 3 fender bolts on each side off, the main bolt underneath, two more "fender" bolts on eitherside up top...the Grill - Firewall bolts off...now just working on radiator..which like I mentioned I cannot reach all of them. Ugh.

|Jacqui||From what I've read, removing the TJ grille is much more difficult than investing some time in taping off the area you want to spray. We left our grille on. Used painter's tape to cover the edges. Tucked newspaper behind the grille, covered the engine, fenders (we plasti dipped a portion of the fenders but covered the rest) and bumper. Works great. Just remember to peel off your tape when the "paint" is still wet. If it is given time to dry, it's more likely to start peeling off with the tape as you remove it. You may need to use a razor blade to score the plasti dip along the edge of the tape before you start peeling it off. Makes for a much cleaner edge.|

Jeep tj grill
I need help. Can someone tell me how to remove the grill piece off of my 1998 wrangler TJ sport? I am really wanting to take it off to put spray in bed liner on it. Thank you!
