Jeep_Monkey I had similar problem right after I bought my used 94 jeep. I could only get my dim lights to turn on. After trying all sorts of things, including trying to test wiring, fuses, and so on, I did two things... and the problem was resolved. Not sure which fixed the problem.

First, I took out the light switch that is mounted in the dash. I did not disconnect anything, just pulled it out where I could look at it. The back of the switch was filled with debris that looked like something you would pull out of a plugged vacuum cleaner. I pulled all of this greasy, dirty stuff out of the switch.

Second, while I was working on this issue, I was also experiencing a problem with the column switch being loose... and no matter how hard you pushed or pulled, it would not toggle bright / dim. I found that the switch was mounted to the steering column just behind the dash. I unscrewed the switch, pushed it back up towards the steering wheel and tightened. While there, I gave the 2-3" wide plug a squeeze just to make sure it was still seated.

When I tested the lights after this, my turn signal switch on the steering column now would toggle bright / dim lights and my bright lights would turn on.

Good luck!

jokerchief462 Two things the switch or the grounds are bad enough they won't complete the circuit for the high beams. The easy first try is the grounds pretty much next to the back of the headlights. Remove the body screws and clean the area they contact and see what that does. If not it is the switch in the steering column. I had one that would go out and cleaned the ground and no issues anymore.

No Hi-beams....

Yep. When I hit the hi-beams, the headlights go out. Checked the connections at back of headlights. No power there with hi-beams on. Anyone know if there is a relay, or fuse for just the hi-beams? Or maybe the switch? Thanks in advance for any advice!
