Kingcat You could use the pbr amp just set the gain accordingly with a dmm.

I know Alpine has always been a reliable brand, but on the other hand, Clarion has always been a "Wal-Mart" brand, so to speak. However, I like different aspects of each, but not enough so that one outweighs the other. The speakers it will be powering will be Pioneers with a max RMS of 50 watts. Thanks for your input!
I was going to suggest the Rockford Fosgate PBR line but it may be too much power for you. They are excellent amps and are freaking tiny. I have 3 of them mounted under my dash adding up to 1200 total watts.

If you do chose the Alpine, you can get one on eBay for $49.

There are reviews of the Alpine, but the Clarion is too new, I believe - another red flag in my book, but that aside...there are no reviews of the Clarion. I am leaning towards the Alpine because it is designed to work directly with factory or aftermarket head units - a big plus for me, because I am not an electronics guru and get really impatient and confused when I have to wire things like this.

woansleftpeg The only advantages I can see of the Clarion are a slightly lower price and a marginally higher continuous power rating. The fact that it will tolerate a lower impedance could be considered an advantage if you think you might want to add more speakers at a later date but frankly, I wouldn't factor that in.

The Alpine is capable of bridging channels but again not an especially relevant feature in your build, I think. Personally I think I'd err on the side of the Alpine but that's partly for brand name reasons, and partly because bridging channels in the future seems ever so slightly more likely than needing 2 ohm impedance for wiring in parallel, but it's a really marginal call. Do some googling and see what the criticisms of each one are.
