Water Dog To me, the noise sounds like it might be bad bearing noise maybe from the idler pulley, water pump, alternator, or other hang on. If you have an engine stethoscope (I think harbor freight has cheap ones) you can probably pinpoint the noise. You might find wherever the noise problem is, there also is the rpm issue.

Hi

Newbie with possible engine trouble and was wondering if anyone could point me in the direction of possible issues / where to start.

Thought may be easier to show on:
MOV03417 - YouTube

* startup - fine for first few mins

* 03m20s - (after a few mins) - rough almost metalic noise starts

* then after a few more mins - engine revs drop to <500 then kick up to about 1500/2K to keep it running - it keeps jumping around like that for a while - examples 08m56s, 10m30s, 10m45s, 11m13s - This drop in revs occurs even while driving and with gas/throttle applied.

* after some time (15-20 mins) it is stable

Any thoughts welcome.

All the best

Walt
