jokerchief462 Which computer box thing are you referring to. The ECU is in the dash. The ignition module is in the engine bay.

nateeendavie How do you adjust the idle and I still don't know why the computer box thing is making a high pitched ringing

phnguyen7 Mine was doing the same thing. I finally got it to idle again by checking all the vacuum hoses and turning up the idle. I think you just have to run it for awhile after that so the computer can adjust.

nateeendavie It had a complete rebuild at the machine shop and I got back a short block. I'm not sure what that stuff is

WICruiser What did you do as part of your rebuild?

Start with the easy stuff, all the spark plug wires on the correct location on the distributor cap?

Check for vacuum leaks, like the hose that goes to the brake booster or MAP sensor.

Newly rebuilt jeep will not run right

I just rebuilt my 1993 jeep wrangler yj 4.0
I got everything back in and it starts up and runs but barly it will not idle at all it runs very very rough if i try and put it in gear it dies and the computer is making high pitch ringing noise I don't know what it is I am 17 and this is the first vehicle I have ever worked on
