You may want to check your extension at full flex again with the sway bar disconnected in the front. Make sure your flexing opposite corners simultaneously to see what can happen on the trail (i.e. drive diagonal into a ditch or drive up on ramps with one under the driver front, passenger rear at the same time, etc. My opposite wheels will fully stuff up to the top of the fender/well while the opposing corners drop significantly.

Unless those Bilstien's are really limiting travel that much it will definitely overextend the rear lines (and the wheel speed sensor wire) .
I used the extension as shown on the rear brake lines and pulled the wheel speed sensor line free from it's rearmost tab because it was pulled taut as well.

In the front I've removed the brake line/wheel speed sensor wire from that little metal clamp that holds it at the axle and zip tied them to the shock body at their mid point.

If you do check full extension by flexing opposite corners do so in stages to keep from overextending something.

NYJETS I have a RE 2.5 kit but I got Billstien shocks. Rides just as good as stock. Pro Comp shocks are terrable. Did not extend brake lines and have had no problems. Perhaps the Procomp shocks ride taller?

ThingsAbove I measured my Rubicon Express 2.5" coil lift height after 5 months, a few all day wheeling trips and 9 thousand miles. It should have had time to settle in by now.

My measurements were made from the center of the hub to the bottom edge of the stock fenders at each corner. So I'm only measuring the lift contribution of the RE springs and 1/2" front spacers. I added the 1/2" spacer in the front to help compensate for adding an aftermarket bumper and Warn winch.

The coil lift netted about 3" at the rear over stock.
The front net gain was 4" passenger to 4.25" driver including the 1/2" spacer which is compensating for the bumper/winch which had dropped it about 1/2" so the spacer should be considered a wash.

There is no measurable rake from front to rear. Hub to bottom fender distance at each wheel is right at 24.25" inches now.

Side to side now varies by less than 1/4" as opposed to a little over 1/2" with stock springs.

I expected more sag in the front by now with the added weight of the Body Armor bumper (with bull bar) and Warn 9.5cti winch. The BA bumper puts the back of the winch about 3.5" in front of the grill and the fairlead is even with the front of the bumper so it really sets the winch forward giving it some leverage over the front.

Overall I'm quite happy with the lift heigh of the RE 2.5" coil lift.

It does ride rougher than the stock springs but that's probably contributed to by the crappy Procomp shocks and the control arm angle that 4" lift in the front. I'll probably get some CA drop brackets after I finish fixing broken stuff but I have to factor in the cost of an alignment when I do that. Maybe a Christmas present.

ThingsAbove I got my rear brake line bracket extensions yesterday. There were no instructions but it seems like an obvious install. The extension bracket has a tab that orients it correctly and it has a hole with fasteners to move the bracket down and back.

However when I reinstall the brakeline bracket in what would seem like the facing side on the extension then it places the bracket in line with the rear sway bar such that it hits it when the wheel extends up into the well.

So I moved the brakeline bracket to the backside of the bracket extension and then the brakeline bracket just barely touches the sway bar at full flex. It doesn't seem ideal.

Does someone have experience using the bracket extensions. Do they always touch the sway bar at full extension?

I didn't take a picture while I had it flexed but I think you can picture what's going on. I'm just looking for others experience using the extension brackets in the rear.

It is the same on both sides and my rear axle is well centered.

Well I guess I thought they weren't required because on 4WD.com website most of the 2.5" lifts don't come with brake relocation brackets. Rubicon Express, JKS, Rugged Ridge, Skyjacker don't. I only saw that Terraflex did.

I wish it had said something. I planned to go back to the Uwharrie this weekend but now I'm going to wait until I get the extensions (ordered today). The front brake lines seem fine since I don't have disconnects... yet.

The breathers are located nearer the center of the axle. Do they really extend that far with just a 2.5" lift? Did you have your's pull off with a 2.5" lift? None of the lifts appear to come with breather extensions.

whiteyjfm No surprise there. All 2,5" lifts and up require brake line extensions and most of them come with the brackets.

BTW, you will need to extend the diff breather hose too to be on the safe side.

It is flexed but not fully.



I've ordered rear brake line extension brackets. I feel they should have come with the kit. Rubicon Express Part RE7141 - 2.5" Suspension Lift Kit
