|Jerry Bransford||Yep based on that 33" tire size, don't go with 4.10 which just isn't enough gear for that big of a tire. I made the mistake years ago of only regearing to 4.10 for my then-new 33" tires & it was only a few days before I figured out that ratio decision was a big mistake. For 33" tires, you want 4.56 & for 35", go for 4.88.|

You want the Detroit Locker for "3.70 and below" which means it works with ratios from 3.07 to 3.73. That will allow you to use the thick 4.10 ring gear.
The one you don't want is the 3.92 & up... which means 4.10, 4.56, 4.88 etc.
If that 4.10 R&P gear set with the thick ring gear is used, I wouldn't use it since used gears are much (!) harder to get set up properly. I'd go with new standard R&P gears & just get the 3.92 & up Detroit Locker.
What size tires & which transmission do you have?

Probably need to know how much thicker they are as the thicker ones are manufactured thicker so that they will fit a different carrier, usually the stock gear ratio carrier. If you have thick 4.56 gears then they would probably fit on a carrier meant for 3.07 gears or at least a carrier in that class.

detroit locker ?
ok so I have call Eaton and could not get anyone to come to the phone and I have searched and cant get a straight answer.
I have a non rubi D44 and I'm looking at getting a Detroit locker for it. My question is this. I got a free set of thick 4.10 gears and I was told I have to get the right Detroit locker to accept the thick gears. Is this true? if so which locker do I need to get. I have called a couple company's and no one was convincing they knew which locker to order. can someone point me in the right direction please.
