|Garyk||Can you smell raw fuel? Could be the fuel pressure regulator located at the front of the fuel rail, pull off the vacuum line and see if its wet, that a good indication it is bad.|

|Newly installed long arm||A friend of mine did same thing and it waz some wires close to front of motor bye power steering pump got next to header and shorted|

|Jrgarcia715||I had this same problem when I bought my 89 and I switched out the fuel pump and strainer and fuel filter and it was good to go|

|AllMudd||Fuel sending unit just registers how much fuel you have. The fuel pump transfers fuel from the tank up to the engine. There are a few thing in between, fuel filter been changed? Also follow all fuel lines from the tank up to the engine and see if any are damaged lines. Also there should be a small vacuum hose connected to the fuel pressure regulator on the end I the fuel rail. If your loosin vacuum the. You'll loose fuel pressure. You might want to also check your TPS and IAC sensors on he did of the TB to see if they need replacing.|

Issue with my new YJ
I have a 1995 Jeep Wrangler, 4 cyl (2.5) with a 5 speed manual trans. I bought it used yesterday . The problem first showed up within 2 hours of purchase. What happens is that I'll be driving along and it will shut off. No bucking, no noise. Usually when it happens it first seems as if it isn't getting fuel as pushing the accelerator does nothing, then within several seconds, the engine shuts off completely. After it sets for 10-20 minutes it will restart (I have to turn the key on and off rapidly to get fuel to the block in this time) After that, Itíll turn over and run for maybe 2-3 miles then repeat. Itís done it 7 times already. It occurs no matter the fuel level, weather (hot, cold, damp, dry), going up hill or down, fast or slow, continuous driving or stop & go, night or day, 1st gear or 5th. It doesn't idle rough before or after. The check engine light does not come on when this happens. Iíve been told itís the fuel pump, computer, Fuel sending unit, distributor cap, spark plugs, ignition, etc. The guy that owned before me changed all of that. And his proof was giving me the replaced/worn out parts and receipts. Everything has been changed in the past year. Can anyone tell me whatís going on?
Also, the fuel pump does turn on (or the motor wouldnít receive fuel) but would it be the fuel sending unit?
