The clutch bypass has nothing to do with your issue, bypassing the clutch interlock would do nothing to help. That circuit only prevents the starter motor from working at all unless the clutch pedal is held down.

crisjacof I found this picture,

I cut those two wires and tie them together. That took care of the issue for me.

skyhawkap The other two things I would look at is your starter relay and the ignition switch module (However, I would start with the safety switch as stated above)

crisjacof I just had the exact same issue, check your clutch safety switch, mine was faulty and sometimes it wouldn't let the jeep start, but it would if pushed. There is a connector under the dash that you can jump with a small wire, I found that to be the culprit and removed it from the jeep. I'll post pictures tomorrow morning.

Smashbox Turn you ignition key on and off a few times (3 I think) and see if you get any codes on your odometer

bluesky I would put emphasis on what Bransford asked you...was your battery load tested by someone who knows what they are doing? Awhile back I had my battery tested at Napa and they said it was good, I actually had to argue with them to just sell me a new battery, as I knew I needed one. I threw it in the parking lot and no more charging issues Maybe start with a new battery... it's simple place to start (since you already checked terminals and cables) and a really affordable investment either way.

tbraun5 I took starter and battery to autozone and they tested them?

Jerry Bransford How did you check the battery? Was an extended load test performed on it by someone who know what they were doing? Only a load test conducted for a long enough period of time can give an accurate health indication of a battery.

tbraun5 I tried that when I checked battery.

Jerry Bransford The first thing I would do is remove (not just look at) both battery connectors. Wire brush them so the posts & connectors are bright & shiny clean, then reconnect them & make sure the nut & bolt are tight enough so the connector can't be moved on the battery post by your hands.

Loose/dirty/corroded/worn battery connections are a common cause of that type of problem.

I tried to start my jeep yesterday and it just clicked a few times then wouldn't do any thing. I push started it and made it home. I checked the battery, had starter checked, and replaced the ignition switch. still nothing. You turn the key and every thing is normal, just won't start (doesn't crank). I push started it again, drove 3/4 of a mile parked in the garage and shut it off, now it starts fine????? Any ideas whats going on?
