|4JeepNfun||Has anybody tried this on a 2014 JKUR yet?|

Did this mod just now. Crawled into the cargo area of the JKU, peered at it for about 5 minutes, trying to figure out how I could use the needle nose to help. Turns out my ~12" flathead driver worked like a charm. Work from the outside of each spring, pushing the end of the spring toward the back of the vehicle. Takes a lot of pressure... I also suggest wearing protective eyewear, so you don't slip and lose an eye.
Rear seat headrests folded back when not in use, easy to put up or keep down... mission accomplished!

|rgwinn||Nice mod, thanks. Will be doing this to our 2014, wife doesn't like the blocked view|

I did mine with the headrests released. It wouldn't surprise me if I'd done it the hard way!
The good news is that it was pretty easy anyway. I have a 2012 and had two springs per headrest.
This is a great mod. They lock upright when needed or lay flat out of the line of sight when not. It takes <5 minutes and costs $0! I used a large flat bladed screw driver. Piece of cake.

|Dmc1||I have not done this mod yet but was wondering. Is it easier to remove the springs with the seat up right and the head rests in the normal position or is it easier when the seat is folded down and the head rests are released? I'm talking about spring pressure and if anyone knows when the spring is "loaded" or "stretched" for those that are having trouble removing the spring. I'm doing this mod today!|

People remove the rear ones when they either have no people back there or small children who would receive no benefit from them anyway.
Therefore I don't think removing the front headrests would be wise. Not sure if that is what you meant though?

|LewdDude||I was actually thinking about removing my headrests all together! I have a 2 door. I can't say as if I have ever needed a headrest in a car....|

|MTR||Did this mod to my Jeep today and it really improves how much you can see out of your rearview. I highly recommend it as there isn't a downfall since you can still lock the headrests in the upright position when you have passengers sitting in the back. All it took was a good sized flat head and about 2 minutes per side. I just leaned the rear seats forward some by pulling the loop like when you lay them flat, that way you can stand up and access the rear headrests from the rear side doors rather than climbing in the back. Many thanks to Prelud3 for figuring this out.|

|Manyskilz||maybe so....I'm only 5'5", so getting the headrests out of the way was awesome....|

|oOoYTSEJAMoOo||I'm tall and my head almost touches the ceiling. Maybe that's why it worked? 😃|

|Manyskilz||the spring still stays in place, it is just the arm or keeper that is moved out of the way.|
|03-30-2013 10:05 PM|
|truthiness||Does the spring stay in place with just the 'arm' of it repositioned per your instructions? Or when you move the spring arm, does the spring fall away and you remove it?|

|MarcelOrtiz||i recommend this mod. i thought it was gonna be harder than it was thats why i waited so long. i tried to tie them in the back position but it only makes it harder to get stuff in the trunk from the back seat|

|Jeepsk8||Removed both springs and get no bounce at all.|

I did this mod yesterday and i did hit a few bumps and both headrests popped back up. Do I need to remove both springs on each headrest? They do stay down but they pop up very easily.
