Coyote_94YJ How did I miss this thread?!?! So very cool.

I know the very spot he mentions on the first page of the blog about access to Omaha Beach.

Arbrnrngr Was there in many of those exact places last February. Took wife and 16 y.o.son. I've been there several times (served in Germany in the 80's), one time our US Army unit has Rommel's driver for a guide - talking about perspective!

Anyway, this is an amazing piece of work and I commend you. Thanks for posting this up and good luck. For those of you that did not visit this site, take some time to peruse it.

autotraveler CCain,

Thanks for the comment. In my line of work, so much of what I do follows a strict formula 1,000 words, 12 photos equals a photo feature and ultimately a paycheck. With this I tried to stretch a bit and write something from the heart, that ultimately would have some meaning. Your comment let me know that I succeeded.

I hope you went into the attached image gallery and took a look at some of the images. I think you will enjoy parts two and three, coming in August and December.

ccain Wow, just wow! Great blog! I'm envious of your adventure... A just and fitting tribute to the ones who gave their lives in the name of freedom. And to all those who helped restore liberty to the peoples of France through whose actions paved the way for victory in Europe and secure the defeat of the Nazis! Thank you!

Jeeping the Normandy Beaches in a TJ

With the 65th anniversary of D-Day tomorrow, I've just posted a blog on my 2001 tour of the Normandy Beaches in a TJ. The blog has lots of photos and is the first in a three part feature that will follow the trail of Patton's 3rd army across France in 1944, all the way to Bastogne. If you like the story I hope that you'll leave your comments and circulate the URL to other Wrangler websites and forums you subscribe to.
