|derf||If you don't get too much heat into the cast section you won't damage the ball joints. Just do short stitch welds and move around a lot to keep from building up too much heat in one area.|

|jkjeeper06||Once you pop the axle out is it an easy weld? How did you prevent damage to the ball joints? I may weld these on this summer|

Thanks. I forgot to wear a long sleeve shirt doing all of that welding and I have a welder's tan. It's like a farmer's tan but my hands and halfway up my forearms are also white because of the gloves.
But it was really nice driving home. Going from 3.21 gears to 4.56 is quite the noticeable change. I was actually able to use 6th gear the whole way down the highway. Even up hill.

As for what all has been done in the last 2 weeks:
Front D30: 4.56 gears, Eaton E-Locker, chrome molly axle shafts, Artec truss kit
Rear D44: 4.56 gears, Auburn Gear ECTED, chrome molly axle shafts
Rubicon Express 2.5" lift kit with nitro shocks, front JKS disconnects
I have some 17x9 wheels on the way and I'm going to order the 315/70R17 Goodyear Duratrac tires this afternoon. They should be on by the end of the week.

A little minor work on the Jeep done this weekend.
I got most of the rest of the work done on the Jeep this weekend.
We were doing a lift kit, replacement bolt kit for the suspension arms, gears and a locker in the rear axle, and a weld on truss kit on the front axle.
So we decided since we were 90% there anyway, we'd take the axles out and work on them on a table since that makes everything easier.
Now that the lift is on, it's time to order my 35" tires. Once I do that, all I need is the new rear bumper to hold my 35" spare and my jack and I'm good to go.
