|J21||I installed the Alpine KTP-445U amp on my 2013 JK. It is the base Uconnect without the amp. I made a harness with a couple of METRA connectors so I wouldn't have to splice into the stock harness. With replacement speakers it is an improvement.|

You'll have to buy an inline Processor if you want to do it this way. May be easier to swap the HU out. The audio experts will jump in soon and help you out with specifics. I'll be in this boat in a little while but I'll be ripping everything out and starting from scratch. I think that's the best way to do it.
Isn't that audio system horrible

Aftermarket Amp with 130 stock HU? (2013 Sport)
I'm sure this has already been addressed in a thread somewhere, but having trouble finding it. I recently bought my 2013 Unlimited Sport and the first thing I knew I would need to do was upgrade the stereo because WOW its horrible. I have the stock 130 HU (no Alpine upgrade) with Sirius and Uconnect, so first thing I did was install the 77KICK10 Kicker speaker upgrade and polyfilled the sound bar and behind the front speakers. It did improve the sound quite a bit, but the speakers still distort at higher volume because of the under powered HU.
My question...If I wanted to install an aftermarket amp for power to the 4 Kickers, is the only way to splice into the wire harness using the leads to the speakers? I want to keep the stock HU for theft purposes and don't really want to install a sub for space reasons; I figured an amp to power the 4 kickers would be the best bet.
Is there a current wire harness guide out there as well to ease the splicing?
Only had the Jeep a month and I love it! Should've got one years ago.
