JimsJeep Basically all you need to do is pull the wheels and for the rear the brake drums. Beyond that a clean blow with a lump hammer or something similar should pop them right out. Do not beat on them or you might distort something. On the installation, I slide in the new stud and put a piece of pipe (or a couple of oversized nuts) over the stud then use a lug nut to draw it into position.

8.8 wheel studs need replaced

A few of my 8.8 studs are in sorry shape, so I think I'll go ahead and replace all of them. I'll change the gear oil at the same time, so no big deal if I have to pull the axles, which I assume is a best practice. Was planning on renting a some kind of a puller tool from autozone.

I've never had to do this before, any advice?
