Yep too long.
The mounts are the same. So I guess if I ever want to lift it, I'll be ready with a set of shocks.
In the meatime I took out the pessenger shock. It's rusted to hell, but still seems like new. By hand it still compresses and expands just like new one. It's the original 1998 shock with 70k.
Any opinions on the rust?

|thgr8alex||Not sure on this one but i think i read somewhere that stock jk take offs work with a tj lifted 2 in because the jk's suspension is higher stock. And from your pic it looks to be about 2 inches too long. Again, im not positive but i think i remember that somewhere and your pic confirms it|

I bought brand new take-offs from Ebay last year. I'm finally putting them in, but they appear too long.
They were listed as coming out of a new JK zero lift fitting back to 1997. He asked me if I wanted black and red or all black. I went with red.
The shocks were posted by a high-feedbck Jeep seller, so I assumed he knew what he was selling.
But they are a few inches longer than the originals that are still in the truck. I have the truck fully jacked up. Will my originals expand any further once I unbolt them? If I don't have the right shock, I don't want to fight the bolts yet.
Also. This is the oldest vehicle I have ever owned. I don't really know which rust to concern myself with and which is just typical. I've already replaced a rotted through brake line the first week I had it. I've posted some pictures. Opinions would be appreciated.
