Install process concerns for Warrior Product Rear Corners. Advice please.

So I have a set of these diamond plate corners, I'm installing them for reasons of presentation. My JK is a year old 2012.

My original idea to install them revolved around the following:

Drill the rivet holes in the warrior product corners
Stencil out the holes onto the Jeep.
Drill holes into the Jeep.
Spray holes with a auto body primer (let it dry)
Then I was going to use Permatex Black silicone adhesive sealant to run a bead around the top half of the corner to create a gasket between the Jeep and the corner. also into each hole.
After all that I was going to use the rivets to attach the corner to the Jeep.

Please critique my installation procedure with your experience / knowledge.

I read stuff about aluminum and steel being a no-no. Are the rivets aluminum? I also read that using silicone will cause the o2 sensor to fail. Am I misinterpreting these ideas?

Thanks in advance for all your input.
