Wattapunk Although you can use your safari top velcro'd around the roll bars, it is best for fitment to use it with your door surrounds. That will eliminate the gap you have. The door surrounds should be left in there even without a soft top and is not part of the metal frame. It will also eliminate that gap between the roll bar and back of your window. The safari top should have a hard plastic edge that clips into the groove in the door frame as seen in the pic:

dabolt55 Mine are full doors, but aren't they the same surrounds as half doors with the top bolt screw in ?? If so you need the surround in place...

jeep cruisin No I took off ALL of the hardware as well and the door surrounds are a part of the hardware/frame so I cant have surrounds unless my soft top mechanics are put back on and okay I took a lot of pictures so everyone can see what I mean. ill see what I can do about uploading them.

Nice, yeah the navy is paying me the whole way thankfully, and im going to fly my girlfriend out to ride with me so it should be fun.

these pictures below are just of my safari top: (more to come of the windows installed)

Shoe I agree the Bestop Safari should connect into the door surrounds. You should be able to call Bestop and order whatever parts are broken on your soft top frame so the soft top can be used easier.

I did that same drive last October with my daughter. (Actually to Elizabeth City, 50 miles south of Norfolk.) That's a long drive! take the scenic route and take your time, I'm assuming the Navy is paying for it anyway.

HELP! soft tops

So I have a 97 TJ that came with what looks like a bestop supertop from what the hardware looks like. I took it off and put on a bestop safari top because it had a few broken hardware pieces here and there making it a pain to put up and down. And being how im in san diego and it almost never rains. BUT the half windows on my doors don't seal at the top obviously because the half windows were made for that soft top. Now the predicament im running into here is that I have to make a roadtrip from san diego CA to Norfolk VA here in about a month and im worried about rain... IF it so happens to rain then I will be soaked because of the gap between my window and where the safari top wraps around my side bars. I need to either find something that will seal the gaps or I need a reference to an awesome soft top that is REALLY easy to put up and down. Or better yet where can I find pieces to fix some of the hardware? Any ideas?? I have to make a decision soon!
Thank You!
~chris
