Big Sarge It may be the resistor however, there is something else going on as well. I say this because the high speed on the blower motor does not run through the resistor. even with it completley out you should still have the high setting. I would take above suggestion as well as checking the blower motor switch itself.

flflash Disconnect your blower motor connector and connect a multimeter set on Ohms between the two terminals of the connector and move your blower switch from lo speed to hi speed. Each speed should show a ohm reading if any show open you have a bad blower resistor.
You can do the same thing using just a test light at the blower connector it's just not as accurate.
Also look carefully at the terminals in both the blower motor connector and the resistor connector sometimes they corrode, get loose, overheat and start melting the connector, you'll want to repair any of those problems also.

heater problem

Hi!

the heater in my 1997 TJ ha stopped working. For a while the blower would only work on a couple of the fan settings. now it has stopped altogether. I suspect it might be the blower motor resistor. but how can I check this before I buy a new art?

thanks
Gerry
