get a OEM replacement off a +03 TJ. The design is much better and there is alot more skid than the 97-02 tank skids.
Cheap, light weight....and will take quite a beating before it falls off like your old one.

|IcarusLSC||Savvy imho. You should hopefully never have to do it again with the aluminum, lil extra clearance is always good too...|

If your stock skid is that rusted, chances are everthing holding it on is too.
The Savvy skid comes with all new mounting nuts and carriage bolts, new tank straps to hold it in the skid, and even new push pins for your fender liners. Plus, it will not rust. Perfect for your situation.
If you go off road, it's strong too. Bonus. One of my favorite mods on my Heep.

Gas tank skid
So my stock gas tank skid is completely rusted through (duct taped a flap of rust so it doesn't catch the wind) and I need a replacement. I can't decide what to get.
1 New/Used stock replacement
1997-2006 JEEP WRANGLER TJ FUEL GAS TANK SKID PLATE COVER PROTECTION OFF ROAD MOPAR : Amazon.com : Automotive
2 Savvy Aluminium skid
Aluminum Savvy Gas Tank Skid - Savvy Off Road Aluminum
This is my daily driver and I don't do much wheeling so I'm not too worried about strength. I'm more concerned about corrosion (living in pa).
So I either save money going stock and have to either try to rust proof it or have to replace it again and not gain any strength or ground clearance.
Or I spend more money on the Savvy skid and never have to worry about it rusting and get the strength/ground clearance.
