I have a 4L with 3.07 gears and recently put 31's on....Can really notice the Jeep lost its 'getup and go' ., so think a 4.11 regear is not too far away in the future

It depends on how many gears you have. If you have a 5 speed then your 4th gear is a 1:1 ratio with gear 5 being overdrive. If you have a 6 speed then it would be your 5th gear with 6th gear being overdrive. The number gear is not the main factor but rather the gear ratio.

Since the trans gear ratio is 1:1 and the transfer case ratio is 1:1 there is only the final drive ratio and tire size that will come into play.

In the act of increasing tire size, you are in effect regearing by the larger diameter tire you are using against the surface it's pushing against-(the road). To counteract that, regearing is necessary to let your engine operate in it's proper rpm power band. Slight variations in tire size aren't going to make a significant difference, but when you increase tire size by 3 or 4 inches, there's a major loss of power, especially if you're starting out with 3.07 gears. Not quite as bad with 3.73's

Alula What about the Rough Country lift, I've got the small, 2.5" lift on my TJ and very happy so far.. Behaves it self very good on and off road... For what I pay, its spot on!

This. $500-600 on SYE/CV, then around $1100 for a re-gear. Might be best to go with a 2-2.5" suspension lift + 1" body lift, which would net gains to clear 33s.

Theorist From my research it appears that if you want to go to a 3" or 4" lift and do it properly there can be more costs than you might anticipate. I would plan for a slip yoke eliminator, CV driveshaft, and a re-gear in addition to the cost of the lift kit itself.

Best bang for the buck lift ??

Well i already saw the lift review post. and it helped but most people did not post any dislikes.
But, i want to find the best bang for my buck. like most of us lol. i want to find a lift 3" to 4" for my 2006 wrangler . i want to put 33's and it would be driven mostly on the road as a daily but on the weekends as a warrior . Any suggestions ??? and any links or places that i can order it would be great !!!
