panthermark There are two things I like about the AEM:

1. It keeps the box fairly sealed.

2. The are at least "somewhat" honest in their data. Has anyone ever actualy "looked" at the data for CAI's on Wrangler's?

Here is their published dyno chart.....loook at where the RPM's start.

(Bigger version)

And while I'm not to sure about the 14HP (maybe) least they are honest about WHEN the gains occour.

Our sealed airbox intake system added outstanding gains from 4000 to 5500 RPM culminating in peak gains at an estimated 14 horsepower at 5,750 RPM and an additional 13 lb-ft of torque at 5,550 RPM. The increase in performance offered by part number 21-8316DS can prove useful in a variety of situations, whether it's merging onto a highway, towing a trailer, or off course rock climbing in your Jeep Wrangler.
Below 4000 rpms, you are basically gaining nothing.

A CAI is up to the owner....but if you don't spend a lot of time above 4000 rpms, you are not gaining much except looks and sound.

If I were to ever get a CAI, it would probably be something like the AEM. Outside of warrenty issues (which is why I won't get one), my number one concern is making sure I don't do anything that would increase the risk of hydrolock. But I'd also go in understanding that the only thing it will probably help is when I'm above 4000 rpms, and the only time I'm above 4000 rpm's is when I'm doing 0-60 tests.

Strokerswild Actually, I have interest in such threads.

It's just that for the most part all such threads on this forum (particularly those involving any type of CAI) result in a total sh*tstorm of misinformation.....

Do you folks have a hard time not clicking on threads you don't like or have any interest in?

Here's the tactic I take... I read the title, if I don't have interest, I keep scrolling. It's actually pretty easy, takes no effort at all.

Doctorsti bump this back up. OP, what do you think of the intake or has anyone else looked at this one?

Interesting that it maintains a closed air box using the stock inlet. Pretty much negates the hydrolock argument against high flow intakes.

AEM 21-8316DS Air Intake for the 3.6L

I just ordered the new AEM 21-8316DS for my 10A. Anyone install one of these on their 2012 or 2013 Jeep? If so, what do you think? Did you notice any gains, or just an improvement in engine noise?

I know there are a lot of people out there who feel that running an air intake is a waste, but I have an AEM air intake on my 2011 Toyota Tacoma V6. I noticed a huge difference in how much get up and go that engine has now vs when it was stock.

I am hoping for the same with this install. Currently, my 10A is a 5 speed automatic with 4.11 gears.
