Your AC is a closed system and the refrigerant that used to be in there did not just disappear, it either leaked out or was removed by someone with the proper equipment. You most likely have a slow leak and will need to add more refrigerant at some point in the future. Good Luck.

stanb100 Well i tried everything that you guys told me and nothing worked. But what me and my dad did was put a piece of wire in the plug that tells the compressor to kick on and off and the gauge said we have no pressure what so ever. Long story short the system had 0 freon in it and it was building air pressure rather then freon pressure so we put a big can of A/C PRO in the system with the wire in the plug. then we put the sensor back on the A/C condenser and wa-la the A/C was ice cold.

You will need to have the hood open and switch on the a/c. You should hear a noticeable click when it comes on and you can see the pully end of the compressor start turning.

Wattapunk Sorry for the above response OP , you will find the blend door location by following the cable from the temp slider control to the blend door.

Yes, there's a blend door regardless if you have temp slider controls or a knob. Slider controls uses a cable that controls the blend door while the newer TJ's uses the temp knob that uses an actuator motor to control the blend door. The newer actuator motor can be disconnected from the blend door and visibly checked for function while turning the temp contol knob. They do tend to go bad.

Your control knob activates an electric motor that opens and closes the flapper. The motor is easily accessible under the passenger side of the dash. a nut driver will easily take out the three screws and you can you can drop it down and then manually switch the flapper to the cold side. But this may not be your problem.

My 04 doesn't blow cold. Had the AC serviced 2 weeks ago, and it appears the compressor's working (how to check?), the Jeep tech made sure it had the proper amount of freon and lube. Heater door flapper seems like a thing to check; mine doesn't have the slider control, it's the twist knob. How can I check it? If that's working OK, what's the next thing I should check?

x2. slide the temp lever back and forth and check the connections of the cable from the back side to the blend door. You can manually move the blend door to see if cold air comes out but if there is no resistance, more than likely the blend door arm is broken. Jerry Bransford I'd check the temperature dial to make sure it is closing the heat off. The heater core always has hot coolant circulating in it & getting cold air out of the vents depends on the HVAC flapper door having shut the duct off so no heat can get out. That is of course assuming the a/c compressor is cycling on-off as normal indicating it is working.

Air conditioning help

I recently got my 1998 Jeep wrangler Tj and when I turn the A/C on it just blows warm air. When me and my day lifted the hood the clutch was working but still blowing warm air.Then we tried the A/C recharge kit from Autozone but when we put it on the connector it read on the gauge that we didn't need any freon in it because it was building pressure. Anyone that could help would be great. Thanks
