Let me follow up, as I had some more time to drive it today.
It does it whenever I am off both the clutch and the gas in 1st and 2nd, not just while turning like I thought. It's like a slight grinding that I both hear and feel. But the car doesn't drive any different besides this god awful noise.
It does it in 2 wheel and 4 wheel drive so I don't think its anything in the T-case.
Am I safe to assume it is a synchro issue? It also has become almost impossible to shift from 3rd down to 2nd, so again, synchro?
When I crack it open, what should I plan in replacing, the 1st/2nd synchro, as well as the 3rd gear one?

Odd Noise in 1st, 2nd, and turning
First time posting here but a long time lurker. I picked up a 1997 TJ a bit ago and have been loving it. Got it from a buddy who rebuilt the engine last summer, and the thing runs like a champ.
Until yesterday, I either never noticed this or it wasn't there. All of a sudden when turning either left or right while off the accelerator and without having the clutch pressed in, I hear this grinding noise. In addition, it has become almost impossible to shift down from 3rd to 2nd, even while double clutching.
My initial thought is a bad synchro, but I was hoping for some other ideas before I tear into it and start pulling stuff apart.
It doesn't do it at all while pushing down the accellerator, or while the clutch is pressed in. It also doesn't appear to do it in 3rd or above.
The clutch was replaced last summer as well.
And second random question, there weren't any fuses in the Air Bag fuse slots in the glovebox, I'm assuming that there should indeed be 2 fuses there, correct?
Any help would be appreciated, want to enjoy this Indianapolis summer as much as I can!
