07 Unlimited Sahara Lift and Tires...Advice Needed
I have spent a good bit of time reading posts, doing some research, and generally trying to get a plan together for tires and a possible lift for my 07 Unlimited Sahara. However, I must still confess to being something of a newb to all of this and welcome the advice of those that have been there and done that when it comes to mods.
First, I have to be honest. The mods I plan to do are purely for cosmetic purposes. I want a more aggressive look for my Jeep. I won't go off-road...ever...unless you count driving across the grass in my yard when someone blocks the driveway or occassionally driving down a dirt road.
Second, I want to preserve the ride and mpg of my jeep as much as possible, as I drive 80 miles round trip to work 5 days a week. This jeep is my everyday vehicle and I like the way it drives and rides in its stock set up.
Third, this will be a DIY mod...at least as much as possible. I don't like paying someone else to do something I can do myself.
All that being said, here is the lift and tires I have settled on. Please let me know if I am missing something, going down the wrong road, or making a poor choice. I'm a big boy and I can take the criticsm and commnets. Thanks in advance for the help.
Jeep: Stock 07 Unlimited Sahara 4-door (JK).
I use the hard top 10mth out of the year.
18" Stock wheels. 255/70/18 Bridgestone stock tires.
3.8L V6 Automatic Trans
2WD (yes...it is only a 2WD...please don't hold it against me).
What I want to do: 2.5" lift and larger tires.
295/70/18 Nitto Terra Grappler tires.
1.5" Spidertrax wheel spacers
AEV Procal Module to fix the speedo
2.5" Rough Country Suspension Lift (2.5" lifted coil springs, brake line brackets, hardware and 4 High Performance 2.2 series shocks
What am I missing? Do I need anything else? Is this going to make the ride worse? Big MPG problems? What do I need a qualified mechanic to do after the mod? Is the steering recenter a problem? Am I asking for drive shaft problems? Treat me like the newb I am here. Thanks again.
