Here is the factory lever after removal - it's all one piece

I may have mentioned this before, but if I could find one, I'd like to try and use the automatic floor shifter from an 80's Ford Aerostar. They were comically long and would be perfect to rest your hand on while driving.
Problem is that Ford moved to a column shift in the late 80's so the floor shifters are becoming rare as hen's teeth.

|Neil F.||There are plenty of automatic shift knobs out there. (Goggle and ebay) I got this billet one from Pep Boys in the errrrrrrrrrrr rice section (I hope no one saw me in that area). The only thing was the hole was not large enough for the stalk so I had to bore it out a bit.|

|Rewind||I like that drake set-up. They have a matching 4AD lever and brake lever too!|

On my RHD, my left knee kept bumping the shift button on the stock T-handle shifter, so I installed a Drake shift knob - haven't seen any others.
Have you tried removing the stock T-handle? - It just needs a strong, steady force.
Put the shifter into whichever position makes it easy for you to get right over it with both hands and pull up - gently but very firmly. Don't be tempted to twist/rock the handle.
If you wear glasses, take them off - I've heard of people smacking themselves in the head when the T-handle lets go.
Thankfully the new Drake knob is held on with a grub screw and is easily removed if needed.
I swapped the 4WD lever too - that was a bit more involved - the whole shaft needs replacing, not just the knob.
(This is my 97 RHD - so the PRND21 display panel is on the other side)

|Jerry Bransford||So far, I haven't seen a cool direct fit handle for the OE automatic's shifter that I would install. And I've been keeping my eyes peeled looking for one too. I installed a VERY cool-looking complete B&M auto shifter handle & complete shift mechanism into my previous (stolen) TJ but it shifted like crap... so badly that I won't install one into my present TJ. Not to mention that it was a royal PITA to get working well enough to use.|

|Otto Man||You could get all fancy and use a Grand Cherokee handle. It is offset to the drivers side rather than centered or this by Drake.|

Automatic Trans Shift Handle...
With all the folks swapping out their manual trans shift knobs I was wondering if the Automatic trans. shift handles can be swapped out?
