Your very front clip on your 2013 broke too?! Do you have any idea what could've caused it? The dealership just put a new rivet on there, don't even know if they superglued it back together or whatever.

I'm gonna be taking the fender completely off this weekend hopefully, to check their work. Plus it looks like they didn't take it completely off and realign the whole fender, since one of the clips right before it still looks like it's off and just pushing itself on top of where it goes. Doesn't look like it went back in so now there's this gap where as on the other side the fender fits flush.

Looks like I'll have to take the hood hold-downs, that sound right to everyone here?

First off, yes you will most definately break several clips when removing the fender flare. I don't know anyway around it.

WhiskeyMike Before you do this, you might try using Mothers back to black on them. A lot of people have had a lot of success with changing the grey faded look to black. Then if it doesn't work, you are out $8 and can bedline them.

Bosman I wish I had known about that "clip"Company! If I had it to Do it again, I would of cut down the factory flares To reduce the chance of breaking those clips again.

I'm thinking the most simple thing to do is probably going to be just mask and paint with a brush instead of a spray can.

roadrunner58 They are blind rivets. I found these links through google:

Inner fenders use 1-2 of these. so does the front bumper, behind the grill
Mud Skirt Blind Rivets GM Chrysler

Fender Well rivets, these also used on mopar body kit for rockers

HouseofCards A quick research of fenders and I decided $500 is way too much for a set of four fenders for me. SO I checked youtube and found this video
How to Remove a Jeep Wrangler JK Front Fender - YouTube

and in the description below the video is a link to the clips and part numbers for the replacement clips for supposedly $8 if that is the part number then they are indeed $8.

If anybody who has seen this clips can confirm the link is

SO I am back to the plan of Linexing the original fenders. Seems like the best cheapest route. for me

Glad somebody asked

The first thing I was planning on doing with my new JKU was to take those fenders and have them Linexed. If it is that much of a hassle I should start looking for replacements and have those Linexed

Don't they sell these at auto parts stores?

Bosman JK?-there not really removeable-then-replaceable. There are push pins(plastic) that break off very easy. A replacement bag of those pins costs about $100.00. I broke 2 pins and they won.t sell just 2. I took the $100 and put towards the cost of Bushwackers. Bushwackers stay black and shinny.

HillbillyJeeper I just wiped mine down with wipe new 6 mos ago and they still look new... Cept for the deep scratches

JKBrad I masked my XJ and hit the black plastic with Krylon Fusion. Came out great. Lots of blue masking tape and patience required.

Factory fender removal for painting question

I'm considering pulling off the outer piece of my front/rear fender flares in order to either paint or bedline them. They are getting nasty faded and are now a nice gray color.

Who has done this and how did you go about removing them? I'm actually considering masking the hell out of everything and just spraying or brushing black paint on. Does anyone have any advice on way or another. I'm not ready to buy new flares, so that is not an option.
